Homeschool Formal 2012

This was our home school fellowship group's second spring formal event.
It was a great success! There were about 50 kids from the surrounding areas involved.
The theme: An Evening In Paris
The evening started at 7 pm with a formal dining experience
Salad
French Onion Soup
Chicken Cordon blue
Frenched Green Bean Bundles wrapped in bacon
French bread

After the dinner and short remission, there was a formal dance. The music was all good,
wholesome, and positive. The dress code and dance code was strict and everyone adhered to it!
I am not one who believes that we homeschoolers have to mimic or replace all of the
activities that our public counterparts partake in. I was probably the LEAST enthused of all the moms. HOWEVER, I am pleased that we were a part, ever so small...of this very fun event.
Andrew has had to be pushed into going....only to come home telling us of how much fun
he ended up having. He seems to be the ICE BREAKER for all of the teen events. GO FIGURE!

Andrew, quickly becoming a man!
Jacob, Makaila and Andrew
Andrew escorted his sweet cousin Makaila to the formal.
Isn't she a DOLL!!!
Having some fun
Great kids!

Summer Break and Planning

We are taking the month of June off! HOORAY!!! I am taking this month to plan our "AGENDA" while the kids are playing. I needed a break! They still get out their books to do school, though! So sweet :o) They will grab a book and ask to read. I feel like I have more time to just do that...when they request it. Or, I can have the older ones read to the younger ones if I am busy doing something. I LOVE HOMESCHOOLING! I love that my kids are happy to be together 24/7. I am thrilled when they miss each other if they are separated for some reason. My 20 year old is in Boot camp until August. My 16 year old is working in my Dad's 30 acre garden most every other day. So, the girls and I are left to do deep cleaning and projects. I have been DE-cluttering, which seems to be NEVER ENDING! Going through closets and tubs, ridding our place of unnecessary things. I so DESPERATELY want to simplify to the point that I can manage it all well. Right now...it isn't so easy. With a new little member coming to our family in November, I would so love to be stress free :o) That is what we are up to. I hope to do better with my posting...as it is TOO hot outside during the day to be out...and I am trying to rest a bit more :o)

World Festival

Our World Festival was a great success! All of the children worked very hard....and it showed. Andrew was so nervous that he forgot half of what he wanted to say, but he had a very nice display, and he did really good. The dishes were really nice...my favorite was a Hungarian blackberry dish....oh my goodness! It was sooooo good!
A beautiful group!

World Festival

We are preparing for our "WORLD FESTIVAL" tomorrow. We are to study up on a country, prepare a short presentation, have a display of things related to that country, and make a dish that is from that country. Since my husband is from an Italian family, we were very quick to choose it. My husbands father and mother take bi-annual trips to Italy, where they bicycle the country and camp out for 30 days. Oh, how I wish we could join them....but, our little ones would never make it. And, I don't know that my husband and I could either, if we had to pull them in a buggy or something. Maybe one day, when the children are older, we can venture to foreign lands to experience different cultures and customs, but for now....our Annual World Festival will have to suffice. Italy has so many historical places and popular attractions....so this has proved to be easy. I will be taking pictures and will post a review of how it goes.
